Emmanuel George Cefai

As an exhausted sea-giant

As an exhausted sea-giant
that
has hooted for so long
that
has swam the churning
primeval seas and
oceans
as an exhausted sea-giant
amidst the burning fires of
distress
the extrinsication of stress
and stress
the extrinsication of despair
and
despair the extrinsication of
fear
and
fear the extrinsication of the
sub-conscious

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
