Articles Of F'Hate Poem by Vincent S. Coster

Articles Of F'Hate

What is Christian?
Muslim?
Or Jew?
Gay or straight?
What is anything?
All labels
All chains to bind others
And ourselves
We've disguised ill will
Under the banner of self determination
But yet
Frivolity in itself
Because though they may be ideals
Deemed higher
They doom us to ignore the innate
Commonality of humanity
And moves us instead to hate

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written following the vote to legalise marriage equality in Ireland, and the hatred towards different religions by other religions. It has as its central theme the way that we are all victims of the labels that we put on ourselves, and that others put on us. Even those who commit acts of hate are themselves victims of hate by those they victimise.
This poem will be part of the upcoming fifth collection of poems by Vincent S. Coster Eat Not My Brother which is due for release later this year.
