As curious as I am,

I’m casting a shadow
away, from your face
because I refuse to follow
those fading footsteps.

As our every enthusiasm was swept by age,
I found a shocking note at the back page;
a parting gift as the dawn drew close –
an obliged occasion we always came across.

That was a lonely painting you were sketching
under the shed that protected you from the fierce sunlight
I gazed from a distance the ripples of your ink
like you, estranging themselves from the dull sight.

Seeing you running into the crowd
it did not take me long to realise
that our time was almost up.
Suddenly it became cold and serene

Throughout the day he sees everything
but can do nothing
for he's a mere bystander
in life where entirety is mixed together.

Impression was when I
looked at the sky
seeing the sun coming up
and the birds soaring.

I have a cup of dreams
and some foolish hope
