Arrears? Poem by Lizzy Tomlinson

Arrears?

Rating: 5.0

I sit here and I wonder,
About the days to come.
Life's worries and life's stresses,
In my life, they're never done.
There is always some~one,
Wanting money here and there.
I know I'm being swizzled,
I have no more cash to spare.
Just the other day, there came.
A note about the rent.
It said I was in arrears again.
I really have to vent,
My anger and frustration,
Because this time, last year too,
I was called into the office,
As two~hundred quid was due.
Now, I went along and paid this,
And I've been paying ever since.
So why my rents still in arrears,
Beats me. I'll make them wince.
When I take along the payment slips,
And ask for a statement,
Showing where arrears come in,
'Cause I know I've paid my rent.
