Armistice Day Poem by David Harris

Armistice Day

Rating: 5.0

In fields long ago, they fought
millions and millions fell on both sides.
Men, women and boys robbed of a future
in the futility of a world war.
It decimated a generation
and scarred so many lives.
Now sadness hangs over
those battlefields far away
and each November the 11th
at the 11th hour, we remember
the lives that were stole away
and the sacrifice they made
so that we could enjoy our lives today.

Dedication.
This poem was written not only for those who fell in Two World Wars, but also for those who have sacrificed themselves in recent conflicts. May we never forget them.

Another great wite. The anniversary of the day America woke up to reality is coming up: December 7th. We still have a few Peal Harbor survivors here locally. At a breaktfast, men and women currently serving, and civilians honor them. One of the survivors is in a memoir writing class I attend everey Friday. Another former sailor was on an escort to the aircraft carrier that launced Dolittle's Radiers. He got to watch the huge bombers take off. Thanks again for honoring brave souls that saved us all.
