The splendrous light and the Sun
are one, indistinct indistinguishable
as the sun creates light
the light illumines the sun

Shakti manifest, Lord Shiva’s glory
her manifestation, the whole world

Supreme Shiva who creates beauty’s vesture
Himself assumes that beautiful form
she in turn dresses Her Lord
in the self-same resplendence
with all names, forms and colours.

Shiva and Shakti merged in unity
stay in bliss of being
Shakti as Lord Shiva’s active agent
creates this world for divine play
Lord Shiva's splendor to reveal
melts Herself to become everything

Shiva hides Himself in her infinite forms
out of His great love for her and her creations
watches Her at play
meets her at every call
takes on the forms she wears
for the love-play or lila kaivalyam
as the Seer of the whole universe.
