Aprilgrøde

Jeg saa det, hvor jeg mig vendte,
det solfødte Foraar lyse,
tidlige Sommerfugle
gynged Violernes Kyse;

op over græsgrønne Skrænter
Følfodens Blomsterguld glimred,
som hvide Gnister de første
Fluer i Solskinnet flimred,

Blæsten var lun af Solen,
og alle Grøfter stod fulde,
der var ikke levende Plante,
som ikke stod grøn over Mulde,

der var ikke kuldeskræmt Armod,
som ikke glemte at græde,
der var ikke vintersyg Vaande,
som ikke løstes i Glæde.

Poem of the Day

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
