April 2nd Poem by Karen Esperanza

April 2nd

Rating: 4.0

I want desire
By the fire
Of a setting sun

I want delights
In the afternoon
Those golden afternoons

I want to swoon
Under a waning moon
Never to be seen again

I want to sail
I don't care about the horizon
But I want to reach it

I live for what is on the way.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem just now because I don't have my book of poems with me and I felt like writing one. But on days like this, I like to remind myself that I still have desires. That there are lots of things in the simple natural world, the passing of days that I relish in.
