Aphrodite Poem by Lacey UnKnown

Aphrodite

Rating: 2.1

I wrote this as a symbol of freedom from the binds that love and beauty holds over so many people today. I named it Aphrodite after the Greek goddess of love and beauty, and used some parts of the myth of Aphrodite in the poem; such as the girdle, birth in foam, the Golden Apple and her symbol of the Pink Rose.

I break free of thee
Beauty and Love
Remove thy girdle
From around my mind
Daughter born of foam and sea
Remove thy spell from me
The apple that declares you fair
Is not impressive to me
Your pink rose is as death to me
For beauty is demise to me.
