Antebellum: #5 Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Antebellum: #5

But I will be fine
As I am scathed
By the warfare.
The impending doom
Told by the clocks
And the antebellum
That suddenly mocks
Will claim all of me

But I will still remain
Intact like how the
Stars fail to shudder
As they are girdled to
The barren azure.

You are far within reach
And you are flaring
In the distance
Your starry skin,
Your dagger-like nose,
Your round eyes
Like vacuums
That siphon me
In a mad delusion
Of thwarted visions

You are far
And your visage
Still saunters
Among the streets
Where I walk
Your vestiges -
I have plucked them
Out of reminiscences
And kept them in my
Sleeve

So that when
Another highfaluting
Noon-time shine
Occurs with you in it,
I will unsheathe
The traces
And display your visions
Like rain

So you’d remember
The antebellum
And how I fought
This war for long.
