Antarctica Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Antarctica

Rating: 3.5

The wind that blows cold
across the ice-covered sea
is a southern and fearsome one
and the frosty, plantless,
treeless Antarctica freezes
with lack of the sun.

Many famous seamen
have said their goodbyes
to the seals and penquins who live
on the shore...a prominent
legend, Captain James Cook.
His ambition was the world
to explore.

Antarctica hides many resources
oil, gas and fish of the sea,
but the land is ice-capped
and barren, holding no joy
for humanity, and is no place
for the tourist to be.

Antarctica is SO beautiful! I have been there twice; once for work and once as a tourist. The wildlife and scenery are amazing!
