Ant Hill To Mole Hill Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Ant Hill To Mole Hill

Hills on the ground
Each a fresh earth mound
Pops up overnight
Workers're out of sight.

These hills're dirt
Dug from underneath
Forming a labyrinth
Of pathways and dwellings.

Hard working ants
Make long narrow tunnels
And the tiny eyed moles
Form the larger ones.

They are comfortable
To live and store food
Variations in weather
Matter not anymore.

Tunnels under the hills
Are true nature's wonders
They're engineering marvels
For us to learn from them.

Ant hill to mole hill
Walk is a great delight
The hidden wonders play
A key role in our lives.

It is so surprising how the little creatures make their dwellings. Ants especially the white ants make very complex dwellings in no time. Think of the weaver bird and the beaver! Are not they great engineers? Observing animal life is so much fun!
