How is it, I fall in love with you more each day?
Your soft eyelashes caressing your baby cheeks
The way you stand with your hands on your hips.
How my heart melts when you say: Mummy, I love you.

How was something so beautiful created?
A gift to me from God, a gift I cherish
And hold close for the short time we have
Before he is fully grown, with children of his own

Kicking the Autumn leaves and skipping along
Singing some tv show song, perfectly in tune
How proud I am to walk him home from school
To watch his curls dancing merrily as we go

How great is this love. How enveloping. How amazing
You give so much back, so many precious memories
So many beautiful hand-holding, hugging, moments
So much love, unreserved, unquestioning

My son, if you only knew the dragons I would slay for you
The mountains I'd climb, the streams I'd forge
The battles I would fight, just to make you safe
I love you J, you are simply perfection
