Another Excuse Poem by Jessie Li here

Another Excuse

They whisper in hushed tones
Outside the room
Pretending that I don't hear
Not every word enters clearly in the room,
But others dance around and echo in my ear
Causing my heart to ache,
Like it knows
I'm the one they're talking about
I can't hate them but I do,
And even more so I hate their creation,
Pretending to rule all
I have to make sure they're done talking
Before I leave the room,
Then I just have another excuse
To write a poem,
And another excuse
To hide the truth
Under a dull, un-caring
Facade
