Anniversaries Not Shared Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Anniversaries Not Shared

Rating: 5.0

Complete silence
In her empty room,
I Study flower petals
Bathing in the window sunlight;
My pensive heart was dreaming
About the day we married.

She once said she didn’t understand me,
The desire to kiss her eyes in the rain
And to walk with her at midnight
By the abandoned church
Where the statues still pray
For every lonely human being.

I don’t know where to go
To escape these places
Where her presence
Continues to linger,
The streets and cities
Of my mind.

A lovely piece of poetry. Beautifully written with unique imagery, and such a sad portrayal. Thanks for the read. Best Steve
