Annie Poem by lauren blood

Annie

Annie was a girl like no other
She didn’t have a father let alone a mother
She runs through the meadows singing a song
Something slow and beautiful that makes you want to sing along
Annie wasn’t tainted by the horrors of this world
She was still pure, a peaceful little girl
One day she strayed from her meadow to a faraway land
Were there was tall buildings made of stone and sand
Busy people came and went
Smiles were rare and no one cared a cent
Annie wanted to cry
She screamed up to the heavens “Oh dear lord why? ”!
The people stopped to stare
And Annie forgot to care
Annie forgot her peaceful meadows as they bound her hands
She ranted on and off about faraway lands
Were there were no bars and no small rooms
Were animals play and beautiful flowers blooms
The medicine they gave her made her dreary
And her heart grew cold and weary
Annie’s faraway lands were long gone long
Away from were she was and the beautiful slow song
Annie’s heart was back were the meadows grew long grass
And the peace had some how last
