Animalistic Traits Poem by Will Althen

Animalistic Traits

Rating: 4.8

Even an ant
can manifest destiny
A leech can keep on feeding
until it gets the best of me
An elephant will cry
when its mom dies
A dog will lie
but you will see it in its eye's

But these stone faces
these two legged racist
have lost there ability
to show the truth

So tell me
as your book is so popular
If we are so better
then why do we walk
with frozen hearts
and shed crocodile tears
when others depart

As the walls fall down
that our fathers built
But concrete grows
up from hell
Sky scrapers shadows
have diluted our brains
So as the apes face melts
to the oaks
We spread our vines
and feed from our fathers themselves.

Dear Will- I believe this is the first poem I've read here since being a member that I REALLY liked- I can't stand Broken Heart or Meaningless Poetry- I look for something that has some kind of depth to be able to enlighten my own thoughts- So Thank You- Peace~ James
