Angel Falls Poem by Stephen Holland

Angel Falls

Angel Falls

You made your choice you deemed was right
Improve your life and ease your plight
A risk a chance to lands afar
Your recent past you waved au revoir

Strange is this place you now reside
Diverse ways for a foreign bride
He treats you well this older man
Inherit his will, and that’s the plan

Inevitably when tears you shed
And violence rears its ugly head
For family lost you cry within
For bruise and cuts and broken limbs

I wish I could answer your calls
And be your strength when angel falls

With hateful thoughts you now contrive
You leave him so you must survive
You hold your dream of distant shores
When abandonment is all that’s yours

So fallen angel say goodbye
We had a chance both you and I
But fate was hard and cruel because
Our paths were never meant to cross

I can’t break down erected walls
I won’t be there when angel falls
