And Yet, Poem by Nate Hawk

And Yet,

I see the world, yet I am blind
I hear the wind, yet trees stand still
I taste the water, yet drink the wine
I feel no pain, yet swallow the pill

I lay in bed still, yet am awake
I read the words, yet forget their meaning
I aim to give, yet succeed to take
I watch the stars, but see not they're gleaming

I strive to finish, yet fail to begin
I hate to love, yet love to hate
I'm happy to lose, yet scared to win
I control my destiny, yet resign to fate

I wish to live, yet think to die
I want to learn, yet stand to preach
I know the answer, yet still ask 'why? '
I need anyone's help, yet refuse all that would reach
