And Maybe That One Poem by Emmanuel Arunee Mwanza

And Maybe That One

Rating: 5.0

So...
It was nothing after all
The sweet words you told me
The songs
All lies
The riches that you showered upon me
I thought, 'wow, the future should be brighter'
I did not not know what you were thinking
Your plans, I could not tell
After all am just human, right?
I was blinded by your clever words
Your money made me busy
I never reasoned clearly
For my mind was drunk with all the fantasy lives you created for me to imagine
I stopped thinking of what others say
'They are all the same',
I said, no! not this one...
he has me and my people at heart
Alas...
It was never going to be...
You lied
You never cared
All you wanted was to use me,
Use my people for you to enjoy life
Leaving us suffering
So...we put you in power
So...we took you to that great place you wanted badly
With you clever mouth
So...it was all a lie
You never cared
So...you are like the others
So...they were right
When they said 'you are like the rest'
Once you get what you want we become nothing
Poor me and those like me...will try to be good citizens still
So...I will wait for another one to come
And maybe that one shall never allow us to sleep on empty stomachs
And maybe that one will keep his words
And maybe just maybe he will be the one not to lie to me and my people no more

Such a beautiful poem. It truly reflects in what the bad and evils of betrayal are like
