And I In My Old Age/ Dreaming Of A Quiet Death Poem by Shalom Freedman

And I In My Old Age/ Dreaming Of A Quiet Death

AND I IN MY OLD AGE/ DREAMING OF A QUIET DEATH

And I in my old age
Dreaming of a quiet death
Death without pain
Without prolonged suffering
Without humiliations
And endless disappointments
For those few who care
I in my old age
Dreaming of a quiet death
And no death at all
I in my old age
Already in pain and decline- faltering
I in my old age
Dreaming I will live forever
And never be sick again.
