Ancient Wonders Poem by Brian Stafford

Ancient Wonders

Rating: 4.8

I'm on the Pharos lighthouse,
as the keeper of the light;
A sight of awe and wonder,
especially at night;
People come from miles around,
to marvel at the sight;
A view that nothing can compare,
great if Alexander could be there;

It's a wonder,
It's a wonder,
an ancient wonder of the world;

I'm in the gardens of Babylon,
as the gardener who hangs around,
Planting trees and plants from Persia,
on the terraces and slopes;
With water from the Euphrates,
to help them on the way;
An ancient joy and pleasure,
for Nebuchadnezzar to behold;

It's a wonder,
It's a wonder,
an ancient wonder of the world.

A lovely piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely penned. Indeed, in Egypt one would certainly be marvelled at the sight of some of the ancient wonders of the world, especially the Pyramids. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
