THEMATIC ANALYSIS
The poem ancient love is written by Durojaiye Adeboye (Moses) what the poet is trying to say in the poem is that, there is no more genuine love in the mist of the youth that is, the kind of love that exist in the ancient days is no more existing, most especially in the mist of youth, and it as gone so bad that the youth are no more in love but in lust.
In stanza one, the poet make us see the kind love that exist in the ancient days “When we remember the days when people really meant the word I love you” and he plead for that same love to come back “When we remember all this, we say ancient loves come back to us”.
In stanza two, the poet help us to see that love as disappeared totally in our days, in line three the poet says he discover in is own season and time there is no more love most especially the youth “Come back to us because when we look at our days and time we discover you no longer exist” in line five of stanza two the poet is trying to make us see that love in the mist of the youth as been stunned and imprisoned from their heart “You have been despised, stunned, imprisoned and vanished from our heart” in line six the poet says love as disappeared totally from the youth that is, all we can here is her echo in other words the is no more genuine love and those who claim to have true love does not really have it all they have is shadows of love “All we can here is your echo like that of a rushing might wind”.
In stanza three, the poet describe the kind of thing that now exist in the heart of the youth, in line four the poet says that “ since your departure many of the youth have been devoted to lust” that is, many of the youth are now practicing lust not love, in line six of stanza three “Lust as taken away your pride, she as taken away your joy from the heart of the youth” what the poet is trying to say is that lust as ruled in the heart of the youth and he as taken the habit of love away from them “She as corrupt your youth, and despised your future”
Finally, in the last two stanza the poet than begged for the return of love in the mist of the youth “Come back to us ancient love come back to us”, the poet begged for love to return in other for the youth to see that the beginning of lust is the end of all “Ancient loves come back to us and help us see that the beginning of lust is the end of all”. In line three of stanza five the poet begged earnestly for the return of love in the mist of the youth “We beseech you come back to us” in the second to last line of poem the poet says “We your beloved youth await your coming ancient love” that is, he looking forward to see genuine love in the mist of the youth.

Diction
The poet use simple words in the poem in other for the readers to easily understand the message he is trying to pass across. “Your youth no longer love one another all they desire is lust for one another”
Mood/Tune
As a result of the departure of love in the mist of the youth the mood is that of grief while the tune is that of lamentation, the poet is lamenting over the departure of love in the mist of the youth.
