Ancient Kiss Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Ancient Kiss

Rating: 5.0

I’m traveling nowhere
In a dream,
Vague towns
And ghost retreats,
Stumbling into mist
In the valley of discontent.

I’ve been stranded in the past
Living in a lonely room
Gazing through dirty windows
Into the sunless world.

Conversations repeat like broadcasts
In my brain,
Something she said
Echoes in the corridors
Of sorrow.

I scratched a note
On a piece of paper
And buried it
In a book
I never gave her.

Time gradually
Wears away at tenderness,
Insensitivity remains.

There is always
A thousand things
I meant to do and say,
Gifts that met trash canisters
Instead of human hands.

Can I find that book?
Do I have the courage
To read that note?

Did she ever conceive
That I loved her?
Will I ever rediscover the man
That vanished in an ancient kiss?
