An Unneeded In-Definition Poem by Matt Burgett

An Unneeded In-Definition

When firefly nights softly hide from the cobwebs of sadness
And the graceful white angles dreaming of the darkness
I took transparent desire graciously through the universe
Like a wandering white mist whisking away at my silky black shell
I float graciously out in space toward parts unknown
With the only thought left in my head being that of love
Gliding through an asteroid's heart like rain drops landing in fresh cut grass
And like a snowflake reaching its final destination
Only to be lost amongst an infinite amount of others
No need to breath but a single breath of air
And not a reason to lift my head to look were I am going
Heading straight for the sun with the smell of life looming around me
Twisting like a bullet shot out at a moving target
With no more need but to breath
And only but to sleep in the suns hot gentle hands
Rocking back and forth sleeping forever
Never again to open my eyes to you in my arms
But to dream eternally thinking of what might have been
If I had not lost fate slipping through my fingers
And had not set the course for the million degree lullaby
Opening my eyes a final time with all emotion lost out in space
To see the beautiful sight of Earth being warmed by a greater purpose
A purpose that I am now apart of
Molded in the molten palm of our sun
Spinning around for nothing known to anyone
But to set my course and die
With nothing left for me to do but close my eyes and say goodbye
