An Old Man Poem by Sez Farr

An Old Man

An old man lies in bed,
Awaiting death to arrive,
He had an accident in the shed,
He feels he’s not going to survive,
He overheard what the doc had said,

Im sorry miss there’s nothing else we can give,
The granddaughter’s mouth held her hands,
Throughout the night he will not live,
He’s got nothing left no time sands,

Silently she sat besides him,

He said come closer then whispered in her ear,
I love you; I feel them coming, wait…there here,
The child cried and cried,
She felt the warmth leave him, he had died,
She was so sad she was so peeved,
She got up and started to scream,

She shouted and shouted out loud take me take me,
Please dear god take me, everything was silent, not a whisper not a sound,
Please bring him back, take me let him be,

Out of nowhere a figure appeared, you do love him, you do care,
Is it his fate you truly wish to share?
The child nodded tears in her eyes,
The angel then looked up to the skies,

A warm smile then came over his face, as he bowed his head,
For he had heard what god had said,
Slowly, slowly the child came to,
A voice then spoke, it was an angel you saw that is true”

It was the old man in his bed, he was sitting up,
Wide-awake, alive, sipping tea from his cup,
The girl was so happy, she burst into tears,
Then in a split second away went all her fears….
