An Old Love Viewed By Candlelight Poem by Thomas Vaughan Jones

An Old Love Viewed By Candlelight

Rating: 5.0

That flicker finds the corner of my eye.
A golden glow that brightens up this place
then hurries, scurries through the waiting house
to rest against the sunshine of your face.

A face of somber sweetness, yet serene
in true affection, quizzical but kind.
So gentle in those tenets held so dear
that fortitude was never undermined.

When poetry has strummed its final chord
and words dissolve into eternal night,
my world will still retain that tiny glow
of your reflection, warmed by candle light.

What a beautiful, heartfelt poem. Our bodies die, but love goes on forever. It is an emotion too powerful to die.

Thomas, A truly wonderful expression of remembrance... delightful in every facet... one of your best to date I believe... and that is saying a great deal!

That is beautiful Tom, a lovely tribute to your wife. Old loves are certainly the best ones. I too lost my soul mate, just another thing we have in common. Irene

Right you are Joe. The saddest poets seem to create the saddest and most poignant verse.

Thanks for reading Lorraine. Remarkably, after 8 years, she still warms my heart. My muse is gradually reawakening. I think the sad ones make for the best poetry because the emotions touch us all. Hugznstuff
