An Old Fashioned Rhymer Poem by Francis Duggan

An Old Fashioned Rhymer

To another era your type now belong
Oh old fashioned rhymer go pen us a song
That to it has a twenty first century ring
To old ways and old ideas why do you cling?

An old fashioned rhymer you are out of date
Your time it has gone and time for any does not wait
You might have been famous five decades ago
But of the birds and the bees who would now wish to know

On the old fashioned rhymer the clock ticking on
He struggles for inspiration his better days are gone
Success from him further than ever before
For him there will never be one last encore.

An old fashioned rhymer the years have left gray
One might say he has known a far better day
And though not even well known on his Street of the Town
He has not forsaken his dreams of renown.
