An Old Art Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

An Old Art

The modern age has taken heavy toll
When in home we prefer foreign doll
Disregard local product
Go freely for expensive induction

Such things are common nowadays
We have not followed innovative ways
The art is fast disappearing
Taking the heavy toll of an art that is oddly facing

Many artists have left traditional skill
They continued with heavy heart till
It offered means to live peacefully
But now they are leaving it forcefully

They can’t make honorable living
Earn two time square meals for surviving
It has no use to continue
As result no effort is made to renew

The country must face mixture of two
Old and new tradition to pant in true colors
Let old art survive and new one also exist
Art is after all an art
