An Ode To The Little One... Poem by Rishi Kaul

An Ode To The Little One...

Feeble Cries
Shrill notes
Stars and planets
Another fate He wrote

Nimble steps
Firm hands
Start of the voyage
And the vision of new lands

The first leap of faith
The envious teenaged heartbeats
Races and relays
The start of the heats

A rebel without a cause
A billion heartbreaks
The flight of the bird
O' what it takes

All this O little one
You shall be blessed with
With all of us as your eternal sentinels

Till the day you behold the joy unbound
Of hearing your own little one's sound
And I shall know I have fulfilled my part
In the reason for the beating of a billion hearts

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem when my niece was born. Beholding the beautiful sight of the new born compelled me to write this piece for the new member in our loving family. I hope these lines remain with her long after we're gone!
