An Ode To Ol' Big Joe Poem by Dee Corpolongo

An Ode To Ol' Big Joe

Rating: 5.0

Ol' Big Joe was a good friend of mine
I miss him more than any words can say
All the memories made a unique design
and they forever in my heart will stay

I only wish I could somehow thank him
for all help given throughout the years
He would always be right there for me
and provide consolidation for my tears

From the years of hangin' out at the shop
to my many visits being home once again
Any scheduled plans he would always drop
to spend time with his never forgotten friend

He once flew here to California for a visit
Picking him up I was about an hour late
He was sitting on a bench at the airport
Oh so quiet but I knew he was irate!

On that visit we flew up to San Francisco
I met Lyle Tuttle and others that he knew
Some of the many times we had spent together
going to City Island, just to name a few

He once opened a photography business
he took pictures of my daughter at age two
In the window of his shop was her portrait
In New Rochelle, for everyone to view.

Big Joe's birthday was in cold December
So I'm sending out this message today
A friend with a heart you're remembered
and thought about each and every day.
