An Ode To A Friend Poem by Hank Moody

An Ode To A Friend

Not long ago, Not in fairyland,
I met this lady,
Her expression haughty, demeanour grand,
She stood there, eyes outlined,
A shell enclosing
an unfathomable mind,
But then something happened,
I can't put my fingers on,
The shell was broken,
The haughtiness gone,
In its place, that radiant smile
I have come to love, come to adore,
Time has flown,
A bond created,
the seeds of eternal friendship sown,

We sang together,
We danced together.
We fought the petty fights
where she hit first
and asked questions never.
But no matter what,
We are in this together,
In this little endeavour,
Bongo-buddies forever.

How do you know your friend won't rip your heart out, and betray you some day? Do you have faith in her? Oh, you do? Faith is a wonderful thing isn't it? S.
