An L.A Shaped Fate Poem by nicola burkett

An L.A Shaped Fate

Sequin gowns are all that you've got
Stale make up and knock off frocks
Lipstick marks on powdered mirrors
Shinty shoes and all that glitters

Your passport for this town forged like your name
No suitcase for you, you carry your shame
The currancey here ain't made of paper
So find it quick or you'll pay for it later
Hollywood glamour and all that's gold
Secrets and lies, no truths to be told

Hollywood friends that are faker than you
Like yellow stained glass the eyes can see through
Drug stained Polaroids
A metropolis effect ooze
Smile for the camera
Your beauty now froze

Your once pretty face
Now a forgotten portrait
A faultered consequence
Of an L.A shaped fate
The talent will go so far
And it will never get you noticed
So be strong, not weak
And remember to keep focused

Something special you must have
Something special they will need
For the vultures to flock
For the coyotes to feed
