An Interesting Possibility Poem by Francis Duggan

An Interesting Possibility

I've been pondering on stories I've been told the other day
About quiet man Kevin Cuddy and lovely Anna Belle McKay
Some say Anna Belle loves Kevin some say it's the other way
And who to believe or not to is not for me to say.

I know quiet man Kevin Cuddy and he doesn't overwork his mouth
And he can be very bashful when the ladies are about
But I've been told that Anna Belle is different and does not lack in speech
And she could be the one for Kevin if she gets him within reach.

It's a known fact that quiet fellows do not like their women shy
That a quiet man and quiet woman never can see eye to eye
And that those directly opposite do seldom disagree
It's a trait you will find only in the human family.

Will the quiet man from the Pound road over sensitive to chide
Overcome his inhibitions and cast bashfulness aside
And go to the lovely Anna Belle and ask her on a date
I can hardly see that happen but if it did it would be great.

Maybe what I've heard is rumour and deserve the deafened ear
But a tale of human feelings is a thing I love to hear
Greed and lust die in a minute and love will last a life time long
It's a thing of joy and beauty blissful as an angels song.
