# An Aspect Of You Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

# An Aspect Of You

Rating: 3.8

' all things bright and beautiful
all creatures great and small
all things wise and wonderful
the lord god made them all

each little flower that opens
each little bird that sings
he made them every body
he made them every one...'

a song i was taught to sing
every morning in my boarding school'
what a joyful song to sing
yet not with joy i sang it in school

woken up early in the morn
as a kid i would miss my mom and home
disciplined to sing this song every morn
i did so without its joy catching on

similarly.....

' where the mind is without fear
where the head is held high
where knowledge is free
where words come out from the depth of truth'

a verse from gitanjali read out
every monday in open assembly we stand out
a routine read out...it went on
without stirring my soul a bit

a year or two after school
when on my own i was drawn
to read gitanjali i could not put it down
a soul stirring collection of poems

AN ASPECT IT WAS......

any thing you read
any thing you hear
any life you live
without an aspect of you
in it....perhaps
will not bring out the joy in it to you

Your childhood seems numb and only of ronder but when you got out you began your understanding and a savant you are. That song by Rabindranath Tagore was the most excelled song in Geetanjali for which it got the noble prize.

Yes, anything done rutualistically, as you say, 'without an aspect of you' in it, becomes rather dry......the song you mention and Tagore's Gitanjali are art experiences, not rituals! ! you have captured the mood well! ! Thank you for sharing

Have always liked that song a lot. Yes; we sang different songs; and had separate songs for Vacation bible school; and somehow those songs cheered me up most of all. Great thoughts of childhood.
