An All-Night Affair Poem by Marcus McKinley

An All-Night Affair

In my room, I stand at the window
Taking in the waning night's view
Her sweet sounds still fill my ears
As the city lights burn out, one by one
Embered remnants of last night's desires
Her name, well, let's just call her Dawn

She preoccupies my dreams of a new tomorrow
With excitement of the setting sun
Elusive as a shadows shadow
Igniting fires one by one

She finds me wondering in the early hours
She plays with me and leads me on
She stays with me until I'm warm and tired
She tucks me in and then she's gone
