An Alarm Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

An Alarm

Life is like the burial of a donkey and,
The dead make us weep all day;
Life is like a fire in the forest and,
The dead make us weep all day;
Life is like the price of war!
And the dead make us weep all day;
Of an alarm at noon when,
You have the weapons of war around you.

Today a male child is born but,
Tomorrow comes the war!
Today a female child is born but,
Tomorrow comes the war!
Life is like that at times;
Of the terror on everyside of the globe! !

Life is like a spacious house with large chambers,
Life is like an old man with a sickle,
Life is like the valley of Ben Hinnom,
Life is like an old women looking for her missing child,
Life is like the cry of war!
But may the sun always shine on you who have hope.
