Amy Poem by Rick Elpers

Amy

She lay broken having feared
The demon of impermanence
Heart pumping adrenaline
Legs and feet like steel ribbons
Guiding what was thought
To be refuge
Became her undoing
Long years of fearful
Expectations born through the blood
From the past long into the future
Does she now run with angels
With nary a splinter of concern
Where only grass grows
So tasty to the mind
She eats forever
With peace
