American Gandhi Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

American Gandhi

Rating: 3.3

You showed the way
Marched ahead in time to stay
For freedom and liberty
That was always blessed by almighty

You had vision of non violence
That was preached as golden chance
Millions of people backed your move to face trouble
You were an embodiment of classic struggle

You gave black people a hope
'Never think to stop'
If river stops water flow
The bank on both sides can not grow

As it happens for history to witness
There is stiff challenge on face
Still racism is on surface
Violation of freedom is always chased

As opportunists have hijacked movement
There is still no loss of happy moment
Some of us may come forward to work for poor
Blacks need not beg from door to door

Blacks are discriminated against
Still other people disregard and insist
The same racism that existed earlier
Years before and continued till date

Peace may be lying ahead
But message is still not read
The danger still exists and prevails
And mind unexpectedly boils

The blacks may suffer
For the want of no good offer
They may remain robbed off
For some more years to pass off

History is the witness
People had lot more trouble to face
They were subjected to torture
There was no light for future

No where in the world
The black people have suffered untold misery
The curse had fallen on them for no reason
They were the sons of same almighty and good persons

Slaves were meant for hard work
No reprieve for their plight and words
They stood as useless creature
Color was against them for sure

The world was sure of new light
There was end of an inequality and in sight
Right people have condemned discrimination
It was beginning of good relation

'Long live O, messiah of peace'
You were on toes and never at ease
Your soul ended with one deadly bullet
We, the black people, may not allow or let

Peace march may remain on
The last hurdle may be crossed over and won
The nation may thrive along with inspiration
The bond may exist for strong relation

The world may soon witness new era
New generation may heave a sigh
There will not be anguish and pain
Their sacrifice will not go in vain
