Alyosha Poem by Victoria Davis

Alyosha

One desire rolls down the mountain
with the storm winds as they rise;
crashing against the house
driving the rain, calling down lightning
and thunder.

One desire pulls at the hem
of the shore, surging and receding
beneath reeling birds;
Concealing, revealing bright treasures
in the sand.

One desire beats with the heart,
rising and falling with every waking breath,
Capturing, holding imagination,
Escaping in a whisper -
'Alyosha.'
