Always 'There' Poem by Panmelys

Always 'There'

On this first day - your
birthday - which begins the year
this poem I pledge

Using the kigo
Of Japanese origin
To include season

This a true haiku
so first of January -
a good beginning

To omit season
implies a muki-haiku
which is not the case.

When we first set eyes
one upon the other, the
sky outside - cloudy

You, a new student -
where a dream's premonition
had stirred the night's sleep

We were introduced
which produced an instant flash
of blue-lighning clash

I heard the sea's swish
and the shrill shriek of sea-birds:
centuries rolled past

All time had vanished -
It was as if childhood's wish -
suddenly appeared...

Out of a blue mist
where Celtic roots entwined us
and Eros burned us*

We were the earth's lost
children of eternal search,
of love's deep longing

Given to the few -
where sacrfice is always
metamorphosis!

Those who love apart,
can live in suff'ring - but it's
not despair: love's 'there'*

This simple knowing
that what is loved best, remains:
makes all else, nonsense! *
