Always Based Myself On Others Poem by Jeremy Williams

Always Based Myself On Others

Rating: 5.0

Been here, been there
Not really settling anywhere
Met people along the way
Only a few of them
Left in my life today
However that is not to say
The others didn't touch me
In their own special way

Always based myself on others
Lots of friends and former lovers
Somehow forgetting how to be
Plain old boring little me

Now's the time for that to change
My whole life I will rearrange
Taking time out so I can see
What I've done and who I've seen
Maybe this time I'll stay in one place
And learn to love my own face

Always based myself on others
Lots of friends and former lovers
Somehow forgetting how to be
Plain old boring little me

I'll stand in front of the mirror
Hoping to see just a little glimmer
'Cos only when looking at my reflection
Will I see all the impressions
Other people have left with me
Maybe that way I'll get back
To who I was originally
