Alone With God At Daybreak Poem by Berniece Penner

Alone With God At Daybreak

I pour coffee
As day breaks
To meditate and pray
Alone with Him.

The evening before
Laurence ground beans.
Early morning,
I pour coffee.

On the brown recliner
With my worn Bible
I sip coffee
As day breaks.

Isaac went to the field.
Jesus to a mountain.
I go to the living room
To meditate and pray.

Earthen mug empty
Day comes bouncing in.
Outward clamor, inward
Alone with Him.
