Treasure Island

Matthias Pantaleon

(August 24,1984 / Oronija Island, Nigeria)

Alone

In a cold room
Am locked up against myself
Shut out from the world
Like a tear drop in a sea
Alone,
Am like a tree in the desert
No leave to shade
No branch for a bird to peach
No wind to dust my hair
No rain to wash my feet
Just me as mean as sunray
Alone,
keeping memories that refused to be forgotten

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
