I have always loved reading his writing. He was a master, and this poem is sad and touching. You can almost read his heart. (Report) Reply

But still we ought to experience these obscure depths to begin seeing some light and some unity....and so on... until.... (Report) Reply

I admire Poe but if u read through these comments tons of people basically wrote the same thing...If we are all so alone than how can this be? ? I know how it feels to be alone and I know its hard, but just look...your not alone, and neither was Edgar he just didnt know it and neither do you. Just because we are smart enough to think on our own doesnt mean we are alone all you people from around the world have been totally brought together by this man...THAT is why i LOVE Poe...and ur not alone you have all of us. It's true, being different can be hard. It can get a little frustrating when you realize that all the things you love, no one else seems to care about. I know how Poe must have felt on that topic... so I guess the reason I love this poem so much is because I can relate. :) (Report) Reply

Alone and susceptible, they go hand in hand. A brilliant poem about how it feels to be different... (Report) Reply

He seemed very lonesome, I loved his poetry. It is really excellent. He sounds like he is in mourning. He has so much compassion when he writes but it is really sad. I think he was a very lonely man. (Report) Reply

This is one of my favorite poems of all time. Celine if you read into what he's saying, it's so profound, he's talking about how he's always been different. No matter where he went, he never really fit in. And he knew it, and it haunted him, a 'demon in his view'. I think this poem may not seem to be much to you, but it has a depth of feeling, of meaning, that touches me. The same goes for 'A Dream Within A Dream', when read into both of these poems give you a look inside of who Poe was. He is my Idol. If I could ever write half as good as Poe I would be so ecstatic.
