If there ever were a time
that I needed someone near.
That time would be now
if it wasn’t for my fear.

Never get too close
and certainly be aware,
that even the nicest guy
will leave you just beware.

I try not to focus
and assume I know the end.
But my mind is my worst enemy
and my heart will never mend.

It’s because I care so deeply
that I choose to stay away.
In the end I’ll just leave you
for fear you’ll go away.

It’s because I think more of you
that I want the truth be known.
You deserve better than that
and I deserve to be alone.
