Alone Poem by Eric H

Alone

Oh gentle winds beneath moonlit skies
Do you not hear my heartfelt cries?
Below the branches here about
Do you not sense my fear and doubt?
Beside glistening rivers and sparkling streams
Do you not hear my woeful screams?
Around the meadows touched with dew
Do you not see my hearts’ torn in two?
Beneath the sky of a thousand stars
Do you not feel my jagged scars?
Seek not my heart gentle breeze
For you won’t find it amongst these trees
It’s scattered across moonless skies
Accompanied by heartfelt sighs
It’s drifting over the pounding rain
A symbol of my agonizing pain
It’s buried beneath the meadows fair
Conjoined with all of the sorrow there
It’s lost among the stars this night
Too far to ease my quiet fright
So gentle winds don’t seek my heart
Quite simply, it’s torn apart
