Graveyard Of Little Muses

(7 march 1988)

Alone

I remember being a child
sleeping with my head against your heart.
I remember being afraid of the dark
and you, lighting fires in my eyes.
I remember being loved by you
and I remember giving you love back.
I remember you alive, but
why is your name on this stone
why am I alone?

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
