Almost Poem by Erica Burke

Almost

I almost went to see my friends tonight where,
We almost would have gone to the movies and,
They almost would have talked me into getting a beer,
I almost won the fight.

I almost convinced them to not drive but,
Being almost sober she,
Was almost safe to drive and,
I almost trusted her.

I almost took the keys from her but,
She almost threw a fit while,
I almost stayed strong but she reminded me,
She’s almost sober.

I almost didn’t worry about her,
“She’s almost safe, ”
I almost thought and,
I almost believed it.

She almost stopped for that red light.
She almost missed that semi-truck.
Doctors almost saved her life.
I almost told her about my God.
