All The Hollow Silences Poem by Perfection Is Flawed

All The Hollow Silences

Rating: 4.0

(I)

First note sounds.
flooded silence in this cold, empty city
that isn’t actually
empty.
Through the greyrain splattered window(s)
Bell ringing
Cold cradle rocking.

(II)

Black ebony
flashes across the square
(everyone wears Black
nowadays)
An everlasting funeral
for a hollow soul
whom
nobody
knows.

(III)

Mister (or missus)
soandso
died
yesterday (or
the day before
) Rain falling
so clichéd it’s laughable
(but no one is laughing.)

(IV)

Lost count
bell ringing
notes resounding deep and
dark
in the cold, empty city
emptied of souls
cold with the fake shadow of Death
haunting the city.

(V)

Pretending to be alive
Corpse blinking
Through a dead man’s eyes.
His eyes.

The bell stops ringing
and the fading silence is
so Hollow
it hurts.
